My Lord, KI, why don't you let me HATE YOU?!

Remember this post I made a long long time ago saying why I am quitting Wizard101?

#1: Better Graphics

The bottom picture is of Sensitive Serena(Serena is the name of my IRL cat - yes, I now have a kitten and she loves torturing me while I play computer games and sleeping behind my computer) in Pirate101. The top picture is that of Sierra and Katie having a "talk" and OMG those two look hideous compared to Serena!

Is it too much to ask to update the graphics of player characters in Wizard101 to Pirate101 HD?
Welp...

They heard me.

The Summer 2018 Test Realm includes a full HD upgrade for Wizard City as well as "talk" animations for NPCs. I am pretty sure they are going to do better now. Still waiting for the upgrade to pet training, but they also included a new "photomancy" User Interface so you can take more dramatic screenshots...

And now Monstrology has more monsters you can steal animus from. Yep, three new Monstrology essence types were added in the new Test Realm - Manders, imps, and elephant-type enemies. It's not 100% better but I am glad they chose Manders and Elephants as new enemies to give for house guests. I can now upgrade Katie's House of Monsterdromes to 2018. ^_^

Thankfully I got my SSC check this month and July is a dry month for PS4. ;)

So yeah, 2018 is going to be a Christmas in July for me as I return to Wizard101. I am going to buy some time for Sierra Fairyfriend and Katie Ravenpetal and check out the Test Realm.

Yeah, not happening...

Sadly, I am unable to continue playing Wizard101 and thus the adventures of Katie RavenPetal are on hold for an indeterminate amount of time, possibly forever. :(

I know, I've always quit and returned many times, but this time may be the last straw and a total no more Wizard101 for the rest of my life. I've had... personal $$$ issues lately and thus lost a lot of money this month so I have had to gut some fish and one of those fish, sadly, is the KingsIsle franchise racket.

I am not surprised I find myself "quitting." Despite the hype, I am not really sure I want to trudge through Khrysalis to get to Polaris. I swore I would resolve to get someone to Polaris but after all the whining and screaming about the Fight Club and Medulla in Empyrea, maybe it would be best not to even visit Polaris. *sigh* I'll make one more post on this blog for the time being about how KingsIsle needs to improve their games.

Anyways, I have made a decision to focus on one gaming venue this year, and with now the proud owner of a Nintendo Switch and the PS4 lineup looking up and possible PSN store cred earned from trophies, I have gone back to PS trophy hunting on a new account. If I do do a MMO...

https://media.playstation.com/is/image/SCEA/final-fantasy-xiv-a-realm-reborn-heavensward-screen-04-ps4-us-22jun15?$MediaCarousel_Original$

It'll be this one because I get trophies from it. Sorry, KingsIsle, your in-game badges are no match for FFXIV trophies and cutscenes that make your camera zooms on Merle Ambrose look like fifth-grade drama art! I wish you good luck on your mobile franchises however, Alphacat looks cute. ^_^

Happy Holidays! Thanks KingsIsle, I am now unable to buy any more games this month! :(

Well, KingsIsle should revive the locomotive because they are the masters of Railroads! :p

Happy Holidays! ^_^

I know I haven't updated all the time but I've been busy. Now that I have wasted $30 on subs - including an accidental Pirate101 sub for the month - I am tapped out $$$$ until the third day of 2018, which stinks but there is nothing I can do about it. I'll be cowing to my dad to give you a $$$ to pay off my final water bill for my old apartment and still have $$$ for the last 2017 grocery trip. I only have $69 in my bank account now.

I blame the 12 Days of the Spiral - that Reindeer Knight cost me $50 in Crowns for that stupid pull but I finally got it for Katie...

And it is a piece of (censored) because I should have just renewed Grace from the start and used Squall to vaporize everything. :( Worse, Katie's Darkmoor spell will be a single-target spell and the next area of attack will not be until she's halfway through the Ice Nightmare of Polaris! X(

Well, at least Katie's in Khrysalis now.

So I might end my subs and stop playing Wiz again, this time for good. The only thing keeping me from giving all my money to Final Fantasy XIV (which gets you a platinum trophy for a bonus) is that I want to try to get someone, ANYONE, through scummy Khrysalis! With Empyrea Part 1 out, I feel like I am missing a lot. But it's a lot I can probably leave this mortal coil not caring about, sadly, I could just watch videos for all the dialogue. :(

So, KingsIsle, I am going to be tweeting you with this list, my top ten things I think could make you better than FFXIV if you do these in 2018's first Test Realm and keep me loyal to you...

#1: Better Graphics

The top picture is that of Sierra and Katie having a "talk" and OMG those two look hideous compared to Serena!

Is it too much to ask to update the graphics of player characters in Wizard101 to Pirate101 HD? Here's a plan - on New Years' Day, shut Wizard101 down for six hours and use that time to download all the graphic files for Pirate101 player characters and models, then update all of the player models in Wizard101 and a few NPC models as well. You're getting the idea by having camera zooms like you do in Pirate101 for cutscenes, but we need to stop playing wizards who have FF8 Squall Leonhart overworld faces. I'm sorry, but Wizard101's player characters have not aged well and the only reason we play them is because we bury their faces in really cheesy outfits. If the characters looked like Pirate101's pirate PCs, more kids would be lured into playing.

Fennekin's long lost brother. ^_^
#2: Better pet training

Pet training is a pain in the croix because:
  1. Unlike Pirate101, where mega snacks were easy to obtain, getting a snack that gives a lot of stats and pet EXP is almost impossible. My Ice, Katie, had to turn down the member benefit last week for Double Pet EXP because she had no mega snacks and why does she have none? BECAUSE SHE FAILED TO GET MORE THAN ONE LOUSY COUCH POTATO SEED! Yes, I know couch potatoes are easier to get in Mirage, but... ahem... Katie is STILL two worlds from getting there and she has no friends who can teleport her to the Ghultures for a quick farming session. Plz, KingsIsle, in the next test realm, make it so we can get mega snacks faster. Maybe make a elixir that increases seed drops by 50% for 300 Crowns?
  2. Pet Talents pop up randomly. I had a great Starfish with two talents I knew to be Spell Defying and Spell Proof... and its first talent it earned at teen... was SNOWBORN, giving me a Blizzard card. I erased that Starfish that cost 250 crowns to hatch and it's gone now because I wasn't willing to spend millions of crowns to buy Mega Snack packs to raise it to Ancient. Pokemon has a whole bunch of methods for making Shiny Pokemon easier to find, why not have methods to make the pet talents you want pop? I know it's supposed to be hard but RNG is stupid and that's why I hate most games that have RNG-based trophies and never touched them.
  3. May Cast talents usually never trigger or do so in the wrong times. Haley, the starfish Katie is using because it gives her a nice Spell Proof resist boost that has allowed her to reach Khrysalis without wasting Crowns on henchmen for the solo quests, has this freaking annoying habit of using its May Cast Iceblade AFTER Katie hits, meaning that the blade is wasted as the battle ends right after that. Please fix May Cast triggers quickly or you may find I don't care anymore about getting further in the story.
If you fixed it so pets could be trained to have talents everyone wants, then PvP would become more balanced and the main story would be easier to get through.

#3: More Transmute Recipes

I wanted to make a Monstrodome for every world, but that is not possible, I can't even make a second Monstrodome? Why? BRASS IS THE RAREST INGREDIENT IN WIZARD101!!!!!
I only have 18 Brass, and I need 50.

I know you have gotten a lot of salt against you for this, but it would save a lot of trouble if we have more Transmute recipes like Transmute Brass or Transmute Steel. To be fair, you could make it so that it requires 10 Bronze and 10 Astral Shards for 1 Brass or something rare like that and it would only be available in Empryea's latter lands for 50000 Gold, but please, getting Brass is impossible now. I saw a video of someone who made a glitch city with 12 Monstrodomes and I want something like that... on that note...

#4: More Monstrology spells!

I love Monstrology. I know it'll take a lot of work to get enough Animus for every Monstrodome I want, but...

RIP Marleybone Monstrodome. The only monsters I can extract from there are the ghosts and ghouls of Newgate Prison that you see here. :(

I admit Marleybone has very few undead, no place for plant, bird or whatnot, but there is so much possibilities! Here are some ideas:
  • Extract Golem (for wooden, steel and iron golems)
  • Extract Giant (for trolls, cyclops and minotaurs)
  • Extract Cat (not only for Marleybone's cats and thug cats but also for the jaguars of Azteca)
  • Extract Rodent (Marleybone's rats, Khrysalis's mouse knights and sugar gliders, and the desert people of Mirage!)
  • Extract Bird (Replace Extract Parrot with this and you'd have a larger avian monstrology tome like Zeus, Poseidon and Hades in Aquila, which would make an Aquila category feasible)
  • Extract Insect (for all of the Archana in Khrysalis)
I know that would require a lot more programming and bloat the servers but it would give me a reason to stay on Wizard101 - I am a Pokemon Nerd who loves filling out his Pokedex and Monstrology would do the same for Wizard101 and make me want to fight more mobs!

I hope this reaches KingsIsle and they look into these things. I am not unreasonable, I am sure a lot of players want these things too and people would stop saying Wizard101 is doomed like Azteca if they stepped things up a bit. Falmea, you say everything old is new again, but you should make new content and fix things up first for new players.

'Tis the Season

So now Katie in in Zultun Docks after doing the entire Saltmeadow Swamp...

And man was that a pain. It was great story-wise if I had continued the story, but Ponce De Gibbon's beguile cheat is pure evil. He got one off on both Sierra and Katie. :(

But other than that, I did pretty decent and even managed to clear the Azteca Star and Sun school quests without using one hench. Ice is pretty tough to kill, although Katie was nearly defeated because I had not used my anti-fire gear to deal with the two Smoking Mirror Zombies with the bone-turtle creep. He had no Earthquake in his deck so I was being cautious for nothing. Still, the Monkey Trio was no problem although I did have to heal a few times and had to reset because I had forgotten to pace TC Cleanse Charms and Katie got Efreet'd first turn by one of the mooks. :(

To take some time off, I decided to boot up Pirate101 again and, since I now have a kitten called Serena, I created a Privateer called Sensitive Serena and got to the end of Book 1. Bonnie Anne will be following her as the tag-on. (And if you don't know why I named my Pirate Serena and made Bonnie Anne the fox musketeer her main companion despite how much she'll be outclassed, you don't know s*** about the Pokemon XY Anime, which I am catching up on.)

The hat is a gift from the free Pirate101 boosters I got from the 12 Days of Christmas that KI always does each year. Took me a while to redeem them but she now has four extra pets. ;)

I also decided to take some time off of Azteca and carry a Balance Wizard who now has the Epic Bundle because today they brought back some bundles for 50% off, so I splurged a bit. (Hey, after you watch the Pokemon Hoopa movie you tend to get crazy for Arabian Nights and genies. I am so eager to get Katie to Mirage.)

Also, each bundle can give you 5000 Crowns, so I got a little greedy... buuuuuuuuuuuuuut...

KATIE HAS IT.

THE REINDEER KNIGHT.

After 20 packs of trash trash trash, Katie finally gets a spell that replaces Snow Angel. Not that Snow Angel is bad but this costs far less pips. And, here I showed this - a month ago she got Deer Knight from the Loremaster drops. I am so glad KI created an elemental version of this spell as it's awesome.

So, I decided to celebrate Christmas early... ;)

Peace dude. May you all have a very happy and safe holiday.

(I do not own the character of Midnight Louie. His stories are the property of Carole Douglas Nelson, whose "Cat in a Sapphire Slipper" book I am reading and very much enjoying because it a lot less talking and more action. That and "Cat in a Hot Pink Pursuit" were my favorite books so far.)

The True End of the Saga

Yeah, this is me, the blog maker. I am no longer highlighting my words as, once again, I have dropped the story of Sierra and Grace and all their friends. I know it was an ambitious project, but to be honest, my plan is to get Katie Ravenpetal to Khrysalis before Christmas...

And I just cannot do that if I am putting up blog stories. It takes hours to put up all of the screenshots and type all of the dialogue. These blogs were mean to be Wizard101 walkthroughs but, to be honest, does Wizard101 need a Let's Play? If you really want to enjoy the story, you should check out both the co-op walkthrough by Blaze Lifehammer and Zenmaster Blue, who also created a Myth walkthrough for his solo myth.

I missed out on the debut of the third arc and the three worlds because none of my wizards are past Khrysalis yet. Katie's going to be there soon and I spent $15 in my Social Security money to give them another month's sub(which I will probably cancel before it ends so it doesn't auto-renew because I really want to buy more PSN games and a Nintendo Switch in the future and I am already down on my $$$ AGAIN this month because of the constant pack buyings).

No.

The story must be cut short.

This is just fanfiction and I think it's time to just enjoy the game. I am not enjoying the game because I am wasting time taking screenshots which will devour my computer's memory and make the game lag until it crashes because it can't run. NO. :(

So thus the story ends. However, this blog will still be updated, mostly with how Katie is doing in a 3rd-person narrative. Sorry if anyone was following this for the story. :(

Some plans for Katie:
  1. TRY to upgrade her pet to something than this ugly starfish. It's taking a long time because Katie failed to get any couch potatoes so her only mega snacks are from packs. I missed a period of 2x Pet Experience because I had no Mega Snacks. KI, fix the dang drop rates for everything or else Katie will be stuck with the Starfish until Mirage when she can farm Ghultures for Evil Magma Peas.
  2. Hopefully buy enough Winterland 2017 packs to get the Reindeer Knight spell. It's the Ice variant of Deer Knight. I love Deer Knight and was glad Katie got it... but she's Ice, not Death, and Deer Knight is a pain to use as it doesn't use Power Pips. Reindeer Knight would be a blessing for her but right now I am being very conservative with my money. If I get some cash cards from my sisters for Christmas Day, I may spend them for packs. I would like KI to update in 2018 Christmas in July to make Reindeer Knight a crafted lore spell, but since it has a Xmas theme I doubt they will do that as then it would be redundant.
  3. Get the Empyrea Bundle. I missed the time window to buy it for the extra crowns but this hideout looks pretty nifty. ;)
  4. Try to get the Team Manager badge so I can buy lots of Blaze Fox eggs. It would be a cool pet for Katie to make her main.

Chapter 4: The Black Sun and the Mangrove Marsh

"What the heck are these giant stag beetles?" I cried. "I hate bugs!"

"Goliaths," growled Sierra. "Morganthe's elite crack troops. They were crawling all over Zafaria like maggots on a corpse. Be careful."

These are Goliath Ravagers, which are Death-school and have XxXX HP. Not too tough for an Ice Wizard who is super-effective against them. (Sorry, getting back into the Pokemon anime. :p)

After dealing with those bugs, we entered another inner sanctum which was creepier than the first. It depicted a solar eclipse - no wonder this is dedicated to a "Black Sun!"

Just then I saw something below... it looked like an olyphant from Zafaria, only he was dressed in... a leisure suit and fedora?!?!

Sierra gasped and then hissed. "BELLOQ..."

"Fat chance, hose nose!" I said. "You're standing up against the Sword of Kings, buddy!"

"Well well, a strappy little wizard," chuckled the elephant-guy. "Well then, I'll make sure you are well remembered. Who knows? In a thousand years, students of Wizard City will be reading all about your failures." He snapped his fingers.

Sierra gulped. "Watch him, he's dangerous!"

"Heck, how dangerous can he---"

"be?" Note to self: HEED YOUR COMPANIONS. :(

We fought pretty hard but it looked hopeless...

And then a flash of lightning struck Belloq and charred his flesh and destroyed the big bug with him.

"What the..." I said, shocked. "Didja do that, Sierra?"

She shook her head. "No way, I don't do Storm. That's Grace's department."

First spoiler of Grace's Glowbug Squall, the most OP attack in the game. ;) However, despite how I made it out, this version of Belloq does NOT use his "I thought you cam to hurt me!" UBER-Ra in this fight. Katie just had the unlucky joy of dealing with Belloq at full power pips. :) He also has a Goliath Ravager as a mook, but that's no prob for a Life Wizard, who is super-effective against Belloq as well. Breathe easy, you'll fight this elephant one more time, and he'll use his cheat Ra.

"Hold your final spell!" cried Belloq.

"Why should we?" snarled Sierra. "The last time we let you live, but if you're with Morganthe..."

"Don't do it," hissed Sierra. "He's a slimy trickster, he'll haunt us later if we don't grab him."

"Yeah, but if he's telling the truth, we might learn more about Morgie's plan," I said. I sheathed my blade. "Okay, you have a deal. Spill it. What's the big Queen up to?"

"Morganthe is hunting for the Horn of Hurrican," said Belloq.

"The horn!" whispered Sierra in shock. "The horn from the Prophecy!"

"That explains everything," I said. I jerked my head back. "Go, I keep my word." I glared at Sierra warning her not to make any moves.

She sighed and shook her head, but lowered her weapon. "I'm warning you, this is going to bite us in the---"

"Thank you, wizards," chuckled Belloq, who ran out of the chamber.

"Look, Sierra," I said. "As much as I hate having to let that slimy fungus go, I kept my deals. I am sure we will meet again and stop him for good. For now, let's focus on finding out how Morgie's dregging up so many undead and see if we can intercept her in the other pyramids."

Sierra sighed.

I passed by a door with a stone skull lock. I pulled out a stone key and unlocked it, peeking in...

"Wait!" cried Sierra but the door sucked me in...

And I regret nothing. Nope, not even finding out this chamber was a prison for a very ticked-off Aztecosaur who was punished for some nasty crime by being cursed to guard it. ;_;

Yep, meet another Stone Skeleton Key Boss, Ixcax Cursedwing! She is Fire and has a few Death mooks, but she is VERY tough to beat. She cleanses all Feints cast on her and has many many nasty cheats which drop your accuracy into the gutter, so be careful!

Also, she drops cr**. I mean, a Level 80 Wand which only gives a normal pip?!? LAME! Grace did a bit better, getting a rare Thezinosaurus pet which is completely useless to her since she's not Fire. At least we knocked out another badge for the Skeleton Key category!

After pulling myself out of that mess, I saw something terrifying...

This casket looked to be something from Dragonspyre... the place where Sierra killed Malistaire. Was this Malistaire's coffin? Whoever was interred in it was ex-humed and I had a dark feeling that Morganthe had something to do with it and the icky purple goo pouring out of it.

I reunited with Sierra. "Where were you?" she cried. "I was worried sick!"

I kept my mouth shut. "Nothing but a dead chamber. Come on." I was not going to tell her about the coffin. I wanted that out of my mind. Little did I realize that that coffin was a very important clue to who was raising the dead. Spoiler: It wasn't Morgie.

We reported everything back to King Axaya Knifemoon.

"I do not know this Belloq person," he snorted. "Next time you meet him, hand him over to us!"

"We'd be glad too but we have no idea where he's fled," I sighed. We decided to check back with the mystic three to find out if they had any idea where Morgie could have headed next.

"Yeah, we got hot tips from an elephant," I laughed. We told him about our meeting with Belloq.

"Hmmm..." said Pacal, rubbing his chin. "This is grim news indeed. If this Belloq person was honest, Morganthe is scouring the Pyramids to find this Horn of Hurrican. I have never heard of this legend and I am quite knowledgeable in the history of our world. Still, we cannot disregard that."

"You got that right," said Sierra. "Could you tell us how many Pyramids are in Azteca?"

"If Morganthe is searching the Pyramids in order," said Pacal. "She will be seeking out the Pyramid of the Storm Eye next. It is deep within Saltmeadow Swamp, but you will need to traverse Mangrove Marsh first, which is past the Serpent Gate nearby. However, the gate is closed right now. You will need to get permission from King Axaya Knifemoon to open the Serpent Gate."

"Of course," I murmured. "Well, he owes us a favor. Let's go see the king again."

King Axaya seemed to be expecting us.

"Yep," said Sierra. "But we need another favor from you. We need to go into the marsh."

"You wish to enter Mangrove Marsh?" gasped the King. "Are you mad? Mangrove Marsh is deadly and Saltmeadow Swamp more so."

"We need to visit the Pyramid of the Storm Eye, we think we can stop our enemies from entering it and nip all of this doom and gloom in the bud." I whipped my weapon around proudly.

"Hmmm... well then," he said. "I will give you access but on one condition. We sent a scouting party into the marsh to investigate the Hungry Dead there. However, they have yet to return. Talk to Toci Two Face, she was the one who organized the search party."

"We'll gladly seek out your expedition party," I said with confidence. "We're pretty good at rescuing Aztecosaurs."

Toci Two Face was the very dinosaur who had been guarding the entrance to the hot bathing pools.

"Well, first off," I said. "Thanks for keeping any men out of the pools. Unlike your kind, we prefer to not show off our modesty." I coughed. "Next, could you tell us about the scouting party who went into the Marsh? We're heading there."

"Indeed," said Toci, nodding. "I organized the party to investigate the Hungry Dead and see if we could reclaim the Tula Village, but they have not returned. I fear the worst."

"With undead, it's always best to worry," said Sierra. "We'll look out for any Aztecosaurs."

"The party included a few Wing Riders, Avians from Zultun Dock," said Toci. "Find Ah Tabai Skyrazor, he was the leader of the Wing Riders."

"We'll look for some parrots too," I said, grinning.

Turned out as soon as we entered the sweltering marsh, we ran into a parrot-man who accosted us.

"Yes," I said through my teeth, trying not to rip the feathers from this rude bird.

"We come from Axaya Knifemoon," said Sierra. She explained everything.

"Yes yes, we did help the Aztecosaurs, but sadly my own people disappeared in the tombs of the Hungry Dead nearby," said Ah Tabai. "If you can find them, alive or regrettably dead, I will be most grateful. You may have to fight a few Thunder Horn Ghouls, though."

*LE SIGH*

Thunder Horn Ghouls are the upgraded version of Thunder Horn Zombies -  they are Death-school and have 50% more HP.

We found the Avians. Sadly, they were being prepped for dinner by another undead dino.

"Nope," I said. "You're the only one who is gonna suffer... wait, do undead suffer since they don't feel pain? Uh?"

Well, at least I know I feel pain! Ouch! :(

Another day, another boss.

"No problem," I said. "Just be careful about the ghouls on your way out."

"Great," I said. "Can you perhaps help us find the dinos? I mean, the scout party?"

"Yes, they are just down the path to Tula Village," said Ah Tabai. "Be careful, they might attack you, they are very blood-thirsty."

Uh, yeah... I should have seen that coming. :(

Unlike their undead counterparts, the Smoking Mirror Scouts are Storm-school and have 2950 HP.

"Well, you didn't give us an option," I laughed. "King Axaya wanted a report from you guys."

"I see," said Chief Techotl Redsmoke. "We were trying to reclaim Tula Village, but those dirty birds have taken it over. However, we do things properly, with a war challenge."

"What is it with you and your war challenges?" I groaned. "Look, if we make a war challenge for you, will you help us out?"

"We had a war challenge," said Techotl. "But those Hungry Dead stole it and dragged it into their tombs. If you can recover it for us, we'll be able to reclaim the village."

"No problem," I said.

Big problem. This was the second ghoul I had to deal with these days. :(

And the stupid lizard-brain could HEAL HIMSELF! NO FAIR! X(

If you haven't guessed that Mozar Turtle Hunter is Life-school just from him casting Regenerate, you shouldn't be playing this game. :p

Yeah, that's how it went down. ;)

"I am NOT cleaning this **** up," I said, taking a pair of tongs and yanking the War Challenge from the pool of undead ichor.

"Wait, is that ghoul ichor?"

"You clean it up," I choked.

Sierra groaned and cast a spell of fastidiousness on it. "Sheesh, and you call yourself a wizard?"

"I have standards!" I complained.

Techotl took up the war challenge and then gave it to us. "Well, I am impressed by your magical skills, Magicians. Mayhaps you can issue this war challenge to those Avians and allow us to reclaim our rightful village. I will tell you about the secret lever that will open the gate."

"All right, time to kick some bird butt," said Sierra, grinning at me.

It was time to take the fight to the birds...

[To be continued...]

I do admit I might have made some creative liberties at the beginning of the Marsh segment. Call me too lazy to recheck the dialogue. :p
